Back At It

It has been a while since I last entered a posting, but I just got back from the doctor's office and had to face the consequences of not sticking to the diet plan like I know I need to in order to be successful. For the last week, I have stayed on some kind of a diet, but it has not been the one that I know to be the one that is best for me to lose the weight like I need to know. I went to see my family physician today for some blood work and as usual we started off with the weigh in. I expected to be up at least seven pounds but to my surprise, I was down one pound. I felt so relieved and yet at the same time so ashamed of myself for not having the discipline to do what I know I must do for the last week. I vowed to myself that the next time I am at the doctor's office, I will not go with the same expectations. I will go with the assurance that I have reached the first goal that I have set for myself. If I can lose that pound without working at it (no I didn't eat like I used to eat) I can surely be successful if I will just do what I know needs to be done. I still need lots of encouragement from everyone. Sue, Mary, and Jennifer keep hanging in there. By the way, congratulations to Jennifer and John on their new church calling. I pray that God will use the both of you there for many years. Mary, I am thankful that your report was good. Patsy and I have been praying for you, so we weren't surprised that you got a good report.

Too Many Left-Overs

The problem with special day meals is that there are always lots of left-overs. Father's Day was no exception to that rule. Unfortunately from early morning's alarm, the left-over goodies called my name until I beckoned to their calling. The only positive scenario to this unfortunate situation is that tomorrow, there will be only fruit for left-overs. I will need to eat the rest of the cream-cheese and cool whip dip before I go to bed. I believe that it is low fat cool whip.

Week Two

Today starts week two of this dieting marathon. With the celebration of Father's Day behind us, we can have at least 13 days of uninterrupted dieting until the 4th of July, which will be our next day of excused recess from dieting. I had no breakfast or dinner, but I did have a big lunch. However, I probably didn't go over my calorie limit for the day very badly. The boys were here and Kolby, Kiley, and Jorja. We had a great time and after lunch, Ronnie and I went to the shooting range and shot guns for a couple of hours. Needless to say, I was the better shot. I plan to remain true to the diet throughout the days until the 4th of July, at which time I will reevaluate what to do with that holiday. Good luck to my fellow dieters and stay away from all those left-overs from yesterday. I can hear the remaining brownies calling my name even now.

The Weekend Is Here

Good Morning All,

This is Father's Day weekend and dieting will be challenging. Today, which is Saturday, shouldn't be too terribly difficult, but lookout for Father's Day lunch. Chicken strips from Food City, Rotisserie Chicken, slaw, Patsy's wonderful baked beans, deviled eggs, potato salad, macaroni, fruit plate with dip, pull apart roles, and other surprises. Now who can stay within a certain caloric count with such a repast. The only thing I can say is pass the potato salad please. Sue, Mary, and Jen, none of you should have a problem because it is not Mother's Day, but it is Father's Day and only Father's can find devine forgiveness for gluttony. Besides the feasting for Father's Day, let me not forget the celebration of Fathers. I am thankful that my father was a Godly man and that he left a glowing example of fatherhood for me to follow. As a father, I have tried to be and continue to try to be there for my sons. Being a good example is a tremendous challenge. My son Kevin, is a tremendous father of 3 and my son Ronnie will be blessed with his first daughter in September. I know that he too will be a wonderful father. I am thankful to God for all that He has blessed me with as I celebrate this Father's Day weekend.

Blog Number One

This is my first blog after several attempts of creating this wretched blog sight. I'm not sure how much I will use it or how much information I will make available to my readers, but I will make effort to at least be entertaining from time to time. A special shout goes out to my sister Sue for helping me to create this sight. She suckered me into this by including me on a dieting blog, of which I am completing day five. Thus far, I have lost 31/2 lbs. and the opportunity to eat a lot of good food.
